HIV-1 and HIV-2 Screen

HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) is the virus that causes AIDS (Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome). HIV is a contagious disease that may spread when the blood and bodily fluids of an infected person come into contact with broken skin or mucous membranes of an unifected person.

This test screens for the presence of HIV-1 and HIV-2 antibodies. Abnormal results may require further evaluation by your physician.

The HIV-1 and HIV-2 Screen contains the following tests:

HIV antibodies by EIA with Western blot confirmation. If EIA results are repeatedly positive, Western blot analysis will be performed
HIV-2 antibodies OD ratio
