This test is ideal if you're experiencing unexplained vaginal discomfort, unusual discharge, itching, or irritation. It helps detect Trichomonas vaginalis infection, one of the most common curable sexually transmitted infections that often has no symptoms. Many women use this test to confirm their sexual health status, especially after new partners or if they have concerns about possible exposure.
You should not urinate for at least one hour before collecting your sample. Provide the first part of your urine stream (approximately 20-30 mL) in a clean collection cup without any preservatives. Do not cleanse the labial area before providing the specimen, as this may affect results. Collecting too much urine may dilute the sample and reduce accuracy.
This test uses advanced RNA detection technology to identify Trichomonas vaginalis, the parasite that causes trichomoniasis (trich). It provides highly accurate qualitative results showing whether the infection is present or not, which is essential for proper treatment and preventing transmission to partners. Early detection helps you get treatment quickly before complications develop.
What this means
Your test came back negative, meaning no Trichomonas vaginalis RNA was detected in your sample. This is the expected and healthy result, indicating you do not currently have a trichomoniasis infection.
Recommended actions
Continue practicing safe sex with barrier protection like condoms
Consider regular STD screening every 6-12 months if sexually active
Maintain open communication with sexual partners about testing
Retest if you develop symptoms or have concerns about exposure
