   A lipid profile will measure different fat molecules (lipids) in the blood, including:

   • Triglycerides

   • Absorbing vitamins

   However, too many or too few lipids in the blood can impact your health and lead to complications.

2. What is included in a lipid panel test?

   A basic lipid panel will usually include all types of fat molecules; those that are considered "bad," like:

   • Total cholesterol
   • LDL cholesterol
   • VLDL cholesterol
   • Triglycerides

   HDL cholesterol, considered a "good fat", is also an important part of a lipid panel. Ratios between these markers are measured to understand your lipid profile better.

3. What does a lipid panel test for?

   A lipid profile may help evaluate excess or deficiencies of lipids in the blood and the need for dietary interventions or medications for a specific health condition. It can help identify risk factors for conditions such as:

4. Does a lipid panel require fasting?

   Yes. To get the most accurate result for a lipid panel test, fast for at least 8-12 hours before the test.

5. Do I need to visit a doctor?
