Testosterone tests that reveal a deficiency become much more common as men get older, often bringing along with them side effects that can change a man's quality of life. However, addressing the problem could be as simple as applying deodorant in the morning.
A team of researchers from Eli Lilly and Company recently concluded testing on a testosterone replacement treatment that is applied to the underarm daily. The results showed that most men in the trial, all of whom started with low levels of the hormone, were able to regain normal testosterone levels while overcoming the symptoms of deficiency.
At the conclusion of the 120-day study, 84 percent of the 155 participants had normal testosterone levels. Furthermore, many of the sexual side effects associated with low levels of the hormone were alleviated in the majority of participants.
The researchers said that their finding show that treatment with their product may significantly improve the quality of life of men with low levels of testosterone. Given the fact that deficiencies of the hormone have also been linked to cardiovascular risk, this could be an important breakthrough.
