Patient should fast for 12 hours preceding collection of specimen. This test must be drawn between 7 AM and 10 AM. Assay is not recommended when patient is receiving prednisone/prednisolone therapy due to cross reactivity with the antibody used in this assay. Fasting is defined as no consumption of food or beverage other than water for at least 8 - 10 hours before testing. Some tests in this panel may exhibit interference when sample is collected from a person who is consuming a supplement with a high dose of biotin (also termed as vitamin B7 or B8, vitamin H or coenzyme R). Patient should be cautioned to stop biotin consumption at least 72 hours prior to the collection of a sample.
