STD Recent Exposure Panel - (LABCORP)

Description: Standard STD blood and urine testing for many sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) rely on tests or technologies that require several weeks to several months to become accurate. This early detection STD testing panel is designed specifically to detect potential exposure to STDs within the last few days up to a month.

Please Note: The HIV-1 Qualitative, RNA test is an early exposure test, and is also known as an early detection test which can produce a positive result prior to 28 days after possible exposure; however, you cannot rely on a negative result until after 28 from possible exposure, making this the recommended timeframe for ordering the panel.

Abnormal results may require further evaluation by your physician.

Includes:
Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV) Type 2-Specific Antibodies, IgG With Reflex to Supplemental Testing on positive;
Human Immunodeficiency Virus 1 (HIV-1), Qualitative, RNA;
Syphilis RPR, qualitative; RPR titer and Treponema pallidum-specific test (TP-PA) on reactives;

Patient Instructions: First-Void Urine needed - Patient should take first urine of the day to the lab or should not urinate for at least 1 hour prior to specimen collection. This test may exhibit interference when sample is collected from a person who is consuming a supplement with a high dose of biotin (also termed as vitamin B7 or B8, vitamin H or coenzyme R). It is recommended to stop biotin consumption at least 72 hours prior to the collection of specimen.

Estimated turnaround for results is 5 business days. If confirmation testing is required, the estimated time may be extended.
