Vitamin B is responsible for your energy, focus and metabolism. There are several types of B vitamins, such as B 1, 2, 3, 5 and 12. Together they are called B complex.
B vitamins are water-soluble. That means your body flushes them out as you drink water. So they always need to be topped up.
If you don't consume meat or animal products as part of your diet then you need to pay close attention to your levels as B vitamins are rare in plants. Especially vitamin B12. You must supplement it as plants don't produce it.
Low vitamin B12 levels can lead to medical issues so a regular test is advised.
You should fast for 8 hours before collection of the specimen. Fasting is defined as no consumption of food or beverage other than water for at least 8 hours before testing. Avoidance of vitamin supplements for 24 hours prior to collection is preferred.
Estimated turnaround for results is 7 business days. If confirmation testing is required, the estimated time may be extended.
