Note: Confirmation testing is performed on reactive results only if initial values fall within a designated range requiring additional confirmation.
Patient should not have urinated for at least 1 hour prior to specimen collection. Collect the specimen in a sterile, preservative-free collection cup. The patient should collect the first 20-60 mL of voided urine (the first part of the stream-not midstream) into a urine collection cup. Female patients should not cleanse the labial area prior to providing the specimen.

Estimated turnaround for results is 7 business days. If confirmation testing is required, the estimated time may be extended.

Information on the Included STD Tests:

Chlamydia (Chlamydia trachomatis) and Gonorrhea (Neisseria gonorrhoeae): The Chlamydia and Gonorrhea test examines patients for the presence of both sexually-transmitted diseases, detected by their bacteriums, which are frequently the most reported in the country.Herpes Simples Virus (HSV) Type II Antibodies, IgG : The Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV) Type II, IgG test is used to determine the presence of Type 2 (HSV-2) Herpes Simplex in a patient. Most Genital Herpes are caused by HSV-2. Positive results may require further evaluation by your physician.HIV-1/O/2 (Human Immunodeficiency Virus 1/O/2 Antibodies, Preliminary Test With Confirmation) : The HIV-1 Antibodies test screens patients for the presence of HIV-1 antibodies. It is appropriate for exposure at least 6 months prior to testing.

Syphilis (RPR), qualitative and Syphilis (RPR) titer and Treponema pallidum-specific test (TP-PA) on reactives: These Syphilis tests discover the presence of the Treponema pallidum bacterium, which is an indication of a Syphilis infection in a patient.

FAQ

  1. What is an STD test?

STD Testing is a simple testing solution for patients and physicians which can help determine if you have any sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). There are over 20 types of STDs, including:

    • Chlamydia
    • Gonorrhea
    • HIV
    • Syphilis

Some STDs, if left untreated, can cause long-term health problems, like infertility, pelvic inflammatory disease, and cancer.

  2. How is an STD test done?

Usually, an STD test involves screening your blood or urine for signs of an infection. Blood tests are a simple way to test for STDs and are also very accurate. A physical exam can also be performed, looking for changes in the skin, glands, and genital area, which can indicate infection. Both of these tests work conjunctly to confirm a diagnosis for a specific STD.

  3. How long does it take for an STD to show up on a test?

For many STDs it can take between a few weeks and several months for you to develop symptoms. The testing window, however, varies depending on the STD you were exposed to. Testing windows for some common STDs are as following:

    • HIV: 23-90 days for an antibody test
    • Chlamydia: 1-2 weeks
    • Syphilis: within 3 weeks after sores appear
    • Gonorrhea: 5 days-2 weeks
    • Herpes: 1-3 months
