The tests we're talking about here are backed by leading experts like Dr. Peter Attia and Dr. Andrew Huberman, but they aren't endorsing Private MD Labs (yet!). We’re simply sharing what they've said about heart health and how these tests can help.

heart health science

Are you sure your cholesterol test is telling the whole story?

  1. 1 Measure the risks standard cholesterol tests usually miss

Dr. Peter Attia emphasizes that ApoB gives a more accurate picture of heart risk than regular cholesterol levels. It measures the cholesterol particles that actually clog arteries, helping you take action sooner.

  1. 2 A hidden factor that could save your life

Dr. Andrew Huberman points out that Lipoprotein(a) is a genetic marker most people don’t even know about. Standard tests miss it, but high levels can mean a greater risk of heart attack or stroke.

Dr. Peter Attia and Dr. Andrew Huberman aren't endorsing or affiliated with Private MD Labs.

clear data and scientific evidence give you power

You can’t optimize what you don’t measure

ApoB is the single best predictor of cardiovascular risk, far surpassing LDL cholesterol alone. If you’re serious about understanding your true heart health risk, this is the number you need to know.
    Dr. Peter Attia, MD
Studies consistently show that ApoB, not LDL-C, is the true driver of atherosclerosis. A 2019 study in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology found that individuals with elevated ApoB levels were at substantially higher risk for myocardial infarction compared to those with normal levels, regardless of their LDL cholesterol.
Journal of the American College of Cardiology (2019)
Lipoprotein(a) is a genetic marker that goes unnoticed in standard tests, but elevated levels could mean a significantly higher risk of cardiovascular events, including heart attacks. Understanding this number can help you take proactive steps to mitigate risk.

Apolipoprotein Evaluation

Insights Insights

Your apolipoprotein A1 and apolipoprotein B/a1 ratio are normal. However, your apolipoprotein B is high, indicating an increased risk of cardiovascular disease. Research shows that high levels of apolipoprotein B are associated with an increased risk of heart attack and stroke. It's recommended that you make lifestyle changes such as increasing physical activity, losing weight if necessary, and reducing your intake of saturated and trans fats. Your doctor may also prescribe medication to help lower your apolipoprotein B levels.
