But some things that make you more vulnerable to disease may have something to do with your sex hormones. Specifically, estrogen—a primary female sex hormone— may be present at high levels in men. Although most men don’t experience symptoms from having too much estrogen, it can lead to an increased risk for heart disease and diabetes if left untreated.

Estrogen

Estrogen is a hormone produced by the adrenal glands, ovaries, and fat cells, produced in both men and women. Estrogen levels are higher in females than males—it helps develop female characteristics during puberty and helps during pregnancy.

Symptoms

Several symptoms may indicate excess estrogen in men. These include:

Low libido or erectile dysfunction

Breast development (gynecomastia)

Fatigue or reduced energy levels

Increased body fat

Depression

Irritability

Aggression

Stop consuming soy

Reduce your consumption of soy products to reduce estrogen amounts, as these contain phytoestrogens, which can mimic the effect of estrogen.

Avoiding processed foods that contain soy is a good way to start. These include:

Tofu

Edamame

Tempeh

Seitan

Avoid toxins

Avoid toxins in the environment (e.g., pesticides – they can disrupt your body’s hormone balance

Avoid xenoestrogens – these are chemicals produced by various types of plastics and industrial processes that can mimic the effects of estrogen compounds in your body

Avoid plastic chemicals – BPA, phthalates, parabens, and triclosan have been shown to increase estrogen levels in men

Loose weight

Losing weight may be one of the most effective ways to lower your excess estrogen levels. Reducing body fat can help restore healthy testosterone production and, therefore, reduce high estrogen levels.

Losing weight can also benefit you by reducing your risk of breast cancer, prostate cancer, and other conditions associated with high estrogen levels.

Eat more fiber

Fiber is found in fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. Fiber helps to reduce the risk of heart disease and diabetes. In addition, it helps increase satiety (feeling full) which can lead to weight loss and promote regular bowel movements.

Exercise

Strength training and cardio exercises can positively affect testosterone levels. Adding more physical activity (any type counts!) into your life is an excellent way to boost testosterone levels naturally.

Exercise regularly for at least 30 minutes a day.

Conclusion

If you are a man with high estrogen levels, monitoring your diet, regular exercise, and reducing stress can help you regulate your hormone levels. Remember to keep track of your estrogen levels by doing routine hormone blood tests and putting your health first.

Introduction If you’re a man, you probably picture yourself as being strong and powerful.
