FAQ

  1. Where can I get blood work done near me?

Use the lab locator above to find nearby Quest Diagnostics and LabCorp locations available through Private MD Labs.

  2. Do I need a doctor's order?

No. Private MD Labs' doctors provide the lab order after you choose and purchase an eligible test online.

  3. Can I choose Quest or LabCorp?

Many tests support Quest Diagnostics or LabCorp, but availability can vary by test and location. You can start by finding a lab, then choose eligible tests for that location.

  4. How fast are results?

Most results are available online in 1-3 business days after your lab visit.

  5. Do I need an appointment, or are walk-ins accepted?

Yes, we recommend scheduling an appointment at both Quest Diagnostics and LabCorp to reduce wait time at the lab. Some locations are fine with walk-ins, but most prefer appointments, and a small number of Quest locations are walk-in only. You can book your Quest appointment right after placing your Private MD Labs order, and you can cancel or reschedule it later from your confirmation email or patient portal. For LabCorp, requirements vary by location, so it's best to check the authorized location you plan to visit before going.

  6. Do I need to fast before my blood test?

Fasting requirements depend on the test. Lipid panels, glucose, and comprehensive metabolic panels typically require 8–12 hours of fasting. Each test page lists its specific prep instructions before you order.

  7. What should I bring to my lab appointment?

Bring a valid photo ID. Your lab order is transmitted electronically to Quest or LabCorp, so you don't need to bring a paper copy.

  8. How much does blood work cost without insurance? Can I use HSA/FSA?

Private MD Labs is self-pay — no insurance required — and prices are listed on every test page, so there are no surprise bills. We accept HSA and FSA cards at checkout.

  9. Are labs open on weekends?

Hours vary by location and lab provider. Use the lab locator above to see the exact hours for the Quest or LabCorp location nearest you.

  10. Do I need to visit a doctor?

Nope. You don't need a doctor's visit to get a test with us.

  11. How do I get my results?

You'll get your results via email as soon as they are available. We will notify you via SMS as well. You can also see them at any time in the future right in your dashboard where you can easily share them with your professional and compare them side by side with future tests.

  12. Does my lab prescription expire?

Your order itself never expires. The lab requisition document used by Quest Diagnostics or LabCorp is valid for 12 months from purchase per lab regulations; if it lapses before your visit, we will reissue a new one — in most cases at no additional cost. See our Terms & Conditions for the full policy.
