1. What is a lipid profile test?

   A lipid profile will measure different fat molecules (lipids) in the blood, including:

   • Total cholesterol
   • HDL cholesterol
   • LDL cholesterol
   • Triglycerides

   Lipids have vital functions in the body, like:

   • Making cell membranes flexible
   • Producing hormones
   • Absorbing vitamins
   • Storing energy

   However, too many or too few lipids in the blood can impact your health and lead to complications.

2. What is the purpose of having a lipid profile done?

   A lipid profile may help:

   • Evaluate excess or deficiencies of lipids in the body
   • Identify risk factors for developing health conditions like atherosclerosis or hypertension
   • Determine the need for dietary and pharmacological interventions early
   • Prevent complications

   If your results are abnormal, speak to your doctor and dietitian to explore treatment options.

3. What is special about the Advanced Lipid Profiles we offer?

   Both Cardio IQ® and NMR LipoProfile® go beyond cholesterol and triglyceride results. They also test other lipoprotein levels to determine your risk of developing cardiovascular disease. NMR LipoProfile® also tests insulin resistance markers related to lipids and glucose in your blood.

4. How long do you need to fast before a lipid profile test?

   You will need to fast before a lipid profile test for at least eight to twelve hours. Failing to do so may result in inaccurate test results, and you will need to repeat the test.

5. Do I need to visit a doctor?

   Nope. You don't need a doctor's visit to get a test with us.

6. How do I get my results?

   You'll get your results via email as soon as they are available. We will notify you via SMS as well. You can also see them at any time in the future right in your dashboard where you can easily share them with your professional and compare them side by side with future tests.
