1. What is an HIV 1/O/2 Antigen/Antibody Fourth Generation Test?

   The HIV 1/O/2, Antigen/Antibody Fourth Generation Test, is used to diagnose both HIV-1 and HIV-2 infections, and monitor their treatment over time. It follows the guidelines for HIV testing established by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and can be used for adults and children at least 2 years old.

2. How accurate is HIV 1/O/2 Antigen/Antibody Fourth Generation Test?

   Antigen/Antibody tests performed in a lab are the most accurate type of HIV tests, with at least a 99% accuracy rate, as opposed to the rapid on-site tests, which have a lower accuracy rate.

3. How soon does an Antigen/Antibody test detect HIV?

   More than 99% of patients have reactive results within 45 days after HIV acquisition. Therefore, it is unlikely that an individual who has tested negative for an HIV test at least 45 days following exposure to the virus is infected with HIV.

   If your test results come back positive, speak to your doctor as soon as you can for guidance.

4. Does HIV have a cure?

   Currently, there is no cure for HIV. However, antiviral medications can reduce the amount of HIV in your body, which helps to:
