Antimony, Urine Test
This urine test is used
to monitor exposure to antimony. Inhalation is the predominant route of occupational
exposure. Antimony, employed industrially in pigments, abrasives, and for
flameproofing fabrics, is primarily used in the form of inorganic salts. Various
organic salts of antimony are available as parasiticides. The metallic form
of antimony is used in many alloys.
Antimony poisoning through
acute or chronic exposure is characterized by abdominal pain, dyspnea, nausea,
vomiting, dermatitis, and eye irritation.
A significant deviation from the
normal range may require further evaluation by your physician.
