Acid Phosphatase, Total and Prostatic
Acid phosphatase (AcP)
levels have historically been used in diagnosing and monitoring prostatic
cancer. Since AcP is found in tissues besides the prostate (eg, bone), concentrations
of both the prostatic and nonprostatic forms may be differentiated using tartrate.
The activity of the prostatic form of the enzyme is inhibited in the presence
of tartrate.
A significant deviation
from the normal range may require further evaluation by your physician.
Private MD Lab Services
